Random thoughts, usually on Fedora

EPEL now uses Koji and Bodhi

EPEL, Extra Packages for Enterpise Linux, add-on repository hosted and supported by a volunteer community within Fedora now is using the Koji build system and the Bodhi update system just like Fedora itself. The old and unmaintained plague system is officially out of service. It is a good step forward for EPEL community. Anyone interested in maintaining packages can follow a consistent workflow to build packages for both Fedora and EPEL. This is bound to help bridge the gap between the Fedora repository and RHEL + EPEL combination. I would love to see third party repositories especially RPM Fusion use the same infrastructure as Fedora itself including the Fedora Mirror Manager.

  1. rpmfusion does use their own instance of MirrorManager. The talented Adrian Reber, assistant Mirror Wrangler for Fedora, maintains this on behalf of rpmfusion, and submits his changes upstream regularly.
