Random thoughts, usually on Fedora

Open formats and Screencasts

Everytime someone provides a screencast using vnc2swf for a open source program, there is some amount of reluctance in accepting it since not everyone wants to install Flash, its not available for their architecture or they would prefer something that works out of the box.

Vnc2swf though does a very fine job and there was a general lack of similar programs which produce output in open formats but as with everything that has sufficient demand, few people step up and produce better solutions

Look at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ScreenCasting for a solution using Istanbul to provide ogg theora movies instead of flash files
